Guitar Tremolos

Floyd Rose

Double locking tremolos when fully set-up and functioning as intended are capable of things no other tremolo systems can be. Getting a double locking tremolo, Floyd Rose or otherwise, to the point where it is functioning at 100% can be a real labor of love, however. Balancing the tremolo is certainly one part of the process, but there are so many other minor adjustments to the way both the tremolo unit and locking nut are set-up which can really make the difference.

Kahler

Initially a product of the 1980’s, Kahler tremolos as well as spare parts for original units has surfaced again introducing a whole new generation of guitarists to the joys of Kahler terms. Graham spent many hours fettling original units the first time round and built up a knowledge of how to keep them at their best and more importantly when not to mess with them.

Modern

This is a catch all grouping for two pivot point modern style tremolo units along with a number of more unusual mounting modern tremolos. They will usually offer greater freedom of movement than more vintage style tremolos. However, given the range and diversity of tremolos currently available, we would look to advise on best practice for each tremolo on a case by case basis.

Vintage

Bigsby or Jazzmaster, Stratocaster or Vibrola, the USA made or Japanese or even the weird and the wonderful from the Soviet bloc. All tremolos have their own inbuilt idiosyncrasies and their own specific feel and sound. Getting the full potential out of a tremolo requires patience and an understanding of what they a re and are not capable of. Allied to this we need to make sure the set-up of a guitar is allowing the tremolo to function as it should.
We have large stocks of replacement parts for a dizzying variety of tremolo units, many of them no longer in production.

Tremolo re-working

Whilst they may be iconic, not all tremolos are made equally and fewer still are as good as they can be straight out of the box. A little time and attention paid to getting those few extra percentage points of improvement out of each part can add up to a whole much greater, smoother moving and more stable than the original.

Tremolo installation

Universally applicable (if not sensible) and entirely possible, tremolo units can be retro fitted to any instrument. We’ve even fitted full tremolos on acoustic instruments, albeit we’re waiting for our first acoustic Floyd Rose project.
